This listing is for a pack of two MK 12v 51ah GEL batteries manufactured in the USA by East Penn. They are sealed, not spillable, non-hazardous, and require zero maintenance (apart from a healthy charging regime) and therefore safe for public transport and air travel; however, when booking your flight, you should inform the airline.
Mobility vehicle makers usually recommend GEL batteries for their ability to take a deeper discharge over a more extended period than the AGM type. If you plan to use the total capacity of your battery, then GEL would be best. However, if you only discharge 50%, then AGM will do a similar job.
When installing your new batteries, you should always check the manual for instructions on the safest way to do it. The job is pretty simple and should only need a screwdriver and some patience.
If you want to get the most out of your GEL batteries, you need to look after them, the same with any rechargeable battery. When you receive them, they will be more or less fully charged, but we always recommend giving them a charge before first use and, most importantly, never leaving them in a discharged state. Charge them after every time you use them. So that you know, it will take several uses and charges in your mobility scooter before the batteries will show a full capacity charge. This is normal.
